Providing a scalable, flexible preschool meal service for Primrose Schools

School name: Primrose Schools
Location: Nashville, TN

Amy had been a preschool operator for 20+ years and ran several Primrose schools, one of the nation’s top brands in early childhood education. She operated two locations in the Nashville area and was opening a third when she began searching for a new food service vendor. Her preschools were widely sought after by parents all over the metro area of Nashville–most years, they had to join waitlists to send their kids to the schools. She delivered the best, so she expected the best in everything, including the food she was serving to the kids. Amy's goals were clear: she wanted fresh, seasonal menus that she could be proud of when parents toured her schools. As the demand for childcare around Nashville has been growing rapidly in recent years, the ability to scale up service was important, particularly during surges of enrollment.

Amy was introduced to Ordo through a recommendation from another Primrose owner. Ordo’s dedication to providing fresh food every day stood out, compared to other typical companies who often served highly processed foods that were little more than thaw-and-serve instant meals. Additionally, she was impressed by the all-women team from Ordo that she worked with: Joy the Sales Director, Casey the School Partnerships Manager, Rebecca from Ordo’s food & menu team, Courtney the Executive Chef who also owned several popular Nashville restaurants previously, and Sheila the Co-founder of Ordo.

After partnering with Ordo, the team got to work quickly. Primrose needed some equipment for their facilities, so Ordo was able to procure kitchen equipment from their marketplace through their industry connections and online platform. Ordo’s software also helped Amy manage her multiple locations. With their platform, she could delegate the management of individual center food programs to her Center Directors while being able to keep track of their order volume and operations, leading to increased operational efficiency across the board. From the time Amy first spoke with the team to close, Ordo was live in 2 locations in several weeks. Her 3rd new location had food service from the very first day that zoning & licensing allowed for it.

Amy and her Primrose schools in Nashville have been proud Ordo partners for over a year now. She has been a reference for Ordo to other preschool owners and a voice in the Primrose community. Ordo is incredibly fortunate to be able to work with a leader in early childhood education like Amy, and we’re so proud to be serving her community.
